Surprise Mini Getaway!

I would just like to start off by saying that I have the sweetest man in my life. Cody really surprised the heck out of me this past weekend by taking me to my favorite place on Earth: Morro Bay. I’ve talked a little bit about how special this town is to me here, so if you’ve read that post you might have an idea of how excited I was when he finally told me on Friday night.

We drove down Saturday morning and arrived around 2pm. It was one of the clearest afternoon’s I’ve ever seen there, despite warnings of a storm coming the next day.

Of course we had to stop for lunch at Dorn’s, because that is always my first stop. Cody understands this, and luckily he agrees – Dorn’s is the best!

After lunch we walked along the embarcadero for a while popping into a few shops and stopping to look at the view. Then we headed back to our room to watch the sunset on our balcony (we had an amazing view)! I kid you not, I did not edit or filter any of these sunset photos.

We went back to Dorn’s for dinner (of course) and indulged in some of their delicious chocolate mousse for dessert.

The next morning we woke up to rain. And wind. So much wind. We ran across the street to Dorn’s for breakfast – they make killer omelets, homemade salsa, and I never pass on a Dorn’s mimosa (fresh squeezed orange juice and mostly champagne, none of this half & half crap).

We spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon doing a little bit of shopping and a lot of exploring.

I bought this adorable caramel sea salt truffle from Crill’s II.

And found these tiny honey almond soaps that smelled so good I just had to pick one up for myself and one for my mom.

Then, because the rain had stopped and we were feeling adventurous, we went on a walk through the El Morro Elfin Forest.

And we stopped at the Museum of Natural History and took some time to take in the view.

We ended the trip with yet another visit to Dorn’s for one last taste of their amazing clam chowder. It was such a great surprise and a much needed mini vacation. Thanks for taking me to the bay, bae. You rock. (I crack myself up!)
